Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information may be handled when you visit jmshapiro.com or contact Mark Shapiro through the site.
Effective and last updated: August 14, 2026
This is a static personal portfolio. It has no accounts, contact form, analytics, advertising trackers, or ecommerce. The site's own code does not set cookies. Basic technical information may be processed by Netlify to deliver and secure the site, and information you choose to send by email or telephone is used to respond to you.
1. Scope and operator
This Privacy Policy applies to jmshapiro.com, a personal portfolio operated by Mark Shapiro. It does not govern third-party websites or services that you may choose to visit.
2. Information that may be handled
Information you choose to provide
If you email, call, or otherwise contact Mark using a link on this site, the information you provide may include your name, contact details, message, and any other information you choose to include. Please do not send sensitive personal information that is unnecessary for your inquiry.
Technical information
The site is hosted by Netlify. When a page or file is requested, Netlify may automatically process technical information such as an IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, date and time, referring page, and security or diagnostic data. This processing is controlled by Netlify and may occur in the United States or other locations where its infrastructure operates. Review the Netlify Privacy Statement for details.
Information not collected by the site's code
- No user accounts, payment information, comments, or form submissions.
- No analytics service, advertising pixel, or behavioral profiling.
- No use of local storage, session storage, or similar browser storage.
3. How information is used
- To deliver, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure the site.
- To respond to communications you initiate.
- To comply with law, protect rights and safety, or address misuse when reasonably necessary.
4. Cookies and tracking
The site's own code does not set cookies and does not use analytics, advertising, or personalization cookies. For that reason, the site does not currently display a cookie-consent banner. If those practices change, this policy and any legally required controls will be updated before the new processing begins.
5. Sharing and selling
Mark does not sell, rent, or use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Information may be disclosed to service providers that support site delivery or communications, when you direct a disclosure, when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to protect legal rights, safety, and site security.
6. Retention
Messages you send are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain appropriate records, or satisfy legal obligations. Hosting and communications providers determine their own retention periods under their policies.
7. Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection regarding personal information. You may submit a request by emailing mark@jmshapiro.com. Reasonable steps may be taken to verify the request, and legal exceptions may apply. Because this site does not sell or share personal information for behavioral advertising, there is no separate sale/sharing opt-out process.
8. Children's privacy
This site is a general-audience personal portfolio and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the site. If you believe a child has sent personal information, please use the contact address below.
9. Security
Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used for this site's limited information practices, including encrypted HTTPS delivery and restrictive browser security headers. No method of internet transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
10. Changes and contact
This policy may be updated when site features, providers, or legal requirements change. The date above will identify the latest version. Questions, requests, or concerns may be sent to mark@jmshapiro.com.
